Track & Field Has Three Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

RINDGE, N.H. (August 2, 2017) – Freshman Catherine Purves (Dalkeith, Scotland) and senior Nicole Galewski (Whitman, Mass.) of the Franklin Pierce University women’s track & field team, along with senior Dage Minors (Hamilton Parish, Bermuda) of the men’s team, have all earned All-Academic honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, as announced late last week by the USTFCCCA. In addition, both the men’s and women’s squads were honored as All-Academic Teams by the USTFCCCA.

RINDGE, N.H. (June 16, 2017) – Freshman Catherine Purves (Dalkeith, Scotland) of the Franklin Pierce University women’s track & field team has been named Northeast-10 Conference Track Rookie of the Year for the outdoor season, as announced on Friday morning by the Conference office.

BRADENTON, Fla. (May 25, 2017) – Catherine Purves (Dalkeith, Scotland) of the Franklin Pierce University women’s track & field team capped a successful freshman season on Thursday night, as she took to the track in the 400-meter hurdles at the NCAA Championships, hosted by the University of Tampa and IMG Academy. One of only four freshmen to qualify for the national meet in the event, she finished 22nd, out of 22 competitors.

(May 12, 2017) – In the final meet of her collegiate career, senior Samantha Toscano (Northwood, N.H.) became the first jumper in the history of the Franklin Pierce University women’s track & field team to earn a top-three medal at the New England Championships, as she finished third in the long jump to earn All-New England honors. She was among four Ravens to participate on Friday at the first day of the NEICAAA Championships, hosted by Williams College.

PHILADELPHIA (April 27, 2017) – Freshman Catherine Purves (Dalkeith, Scotland) moved into the top 10 in the country in the 400-meter hurdles on Thursday, as her performance led the way for the Franklin Pierce University track & field team on the first full day of the prestigious Penn Relays The Ravens women also fielded two relay teams on the day, while senior B.J. Smith (Concord, N.H.) represented the men’s squad in the 5000 meters at historic Franklin Field.

PHILADELPHIA (April 26, 2017) – Seniors Alex Bonitto (Lynn, Mass.) and Nicole Galewski (Whitman, Mass.) represented the Franklin Pierce University track & field team in the decathlon and heptathlon, respectively, on Tuesday and Wednesday, as the Ravens opened their annual trip to the fabled Penn Relays. Each finished in fourth place to come away with medals after their respective two-day events at historic Franklin Field.
