RINDGE, N.H. (May 4, 2017) – Freshmen Catherine Purves (Dalkeith, Scotland) and Katey Comstock (Windsor, Vt.) of the Franklin Pierce University women's track & field teams, have been named Northeast-10 Conference Track Rookie of the Week and Field Rookie of the Week, respectively, for the week ending on April 30 as announced on Wednesday afternoon by the Conference office.

With the Ravens in action at the Penn Relays last week, Purves moved into the top-10 in the nation in the 400-meter hurdles, with a school-record time of 59.96 to finish 11th. The time is tied for sixth in the country and is the East Region's fastest time.

Meanwhile, on Saturday at RPI's Capital District Classic, Comstock posted a school record in the shot put, with a heave of 12.35 meters. It was an NEICAAA qualifying mark and currently is seventh in the NE10. She also placed second in the javelin (36.46m) and fourth in the discus (35.70m) at RPI, with the javelin mark moving her up to eighth in the NE10. On Sunday at the Regis Pride Classic, Comstock posted a personal best in the discus (37.41m).

The Ravens return to action on May 6-7, when they take part in the Northeast-10 Championships, hosted by Stonehill College in Easton, Mass.
