WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. (May 13, 2017) – It was an NCAA Championships provisional qualifying mark, an All-New England performance and a school record on Saturday in the heptathlon for senior Nicole Galewski (Whitman, Mass.), as she led the way for the Franklin Pierce University women's track & field team at the second day of the NEICAAA Championships, hosted by Williams College.

Galewski became the first student-athlete in the history of the women's program to meet the NCAA provisional qualifying standard in a multi-event on Saturday, as she piled up a school-record 4449 points over the two-day heptathlon. The total was good for seventh place to pick up two points for Franklin Pierce, and is currently the second-best performance in the East Region on the season.

Galewski's two points, combined with six in the long jump from senior Samantha Toscano (Northwood, N.H.) on Friday, made a total of eight points at the two-day meet for the Ravens. The total was good enough to finish in a tie for 22nd place, out of 40 teams which scored over the weekend at the NEICAAA Championships.

Franklin Pierce also had athletes take part in three other events on Saturday at Williams. Freshman Katey Comstock (Windsor, Vt.) rounded out her impressive debut season by competing in both the shot put in the discus. In the shot put, she finished 21st, with a heave of 11.22 meters. In the discus, she placed 23rd, with a throw of 34.25 meters.

Elsewhere, sophomore Lilian Baah (Danielson, Conn.) represented the Ravens in the triple jump. She placed 12th, with a mark of 11.17 meters.

The Ravens now wait for Tuesday evening's official selection of the field for the NCAA Championships. Freshman Catherine Purves (Dalkeith, Scotland) is expected to qualify in the 400-meter hurdles. The NCAA Championships will take place May 25-27 at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.
