Men’s Soccer Announces 10-Player Recruiting Class

RINDGE, N.H. (July 18, 2016) – The Franklin Pierce University men’s soccer team and head coach Roy Fink have announced the addition of a 10-player recruiting class, which will join the team this fall. Shawn Allien (Medford, Mass.), Bernard Broni (Upton, Mass.), Matthew Camara (Swansea, Mass.), Jahkeem Hunt (Pembroke, Bermuda), Noam Kolakofsky (Achziv, Israel), Niklas Laudahn (Dortmund, Germany), Jacob Maddox (Southborough, Mass.), Joseph Morehead (Fairhaven, Mass.), Jadel Poon-Lewis (Diego Martin, Trinidad & Tobago) and Nate Presti (Bedford, Mass.) will all be Ravens for the first time during the 2016 campaign.

(June 9, 2016) – The 2007 Franklin Pierce University men’s soccer team, which captured the national championship, has been inducted into the Northeast-10 Conference Hall of Fame, as announced by the Conference office at the league’s annual banquet earlier this week. The Ravens were among three teams and six individuals inducted by the Northeast-10.

(June 8, 2016) – Jadiel Poon Lewis, an incoming goalkeeper for the Franklin Pierce University men’s soccer team, has been selected as a member of the Trinidad & Tobago Under 20 Men’s National Team, as announced on Tuesday by the Trinidad & Tobago Football Association. Lewis will represent his country at the upcoming Caribbean Football Union (CFU) first round qualifying matches leading up to the 2017 FIFA Under 20 World Cup in South Korea.

RINDGE, N.H. (February 3, 2016) – Four Franklin Pierce University student-athletes have been named to the fall 2015 Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference Team in their respective sports, as announced Wednesday by the Conference office. Field hockey saw senior forward Chelsey Burnell (Porter, Maine) and sophomore forward Carly Canavan (Kingston, N.Y.) honored, while junior Jon Holmes (Albany, N.Y.) of the men’s cross country team and graduate student midfielder David Magee (Lurgan, Ireland) of the men’s soccer team earned the accolade as well. The selected Ravens were among 79 student-athletes across seven sports honored by the Northeast-10.

(November 5, 2015) – Graduate student midfielder David Magee (Lurgan, Ireland) of the Franklin Pierce University men’s soccer team has been named to the All-Northeast-10 Conference First Team, as announced on Thursday afternoon by the Conference office. In addition, senior forward Marius Preber (Jessheim, Norway) was selected to the All-Northeast-10 Second Team, while freshman midfielder Lloyd Ross (London, England) and freshman back Jordan Barnett (Grimsby, England) were both named to the Northeast-10 All-Rookie Team.

(October 30, 2015) – The only four-year senior on the field for the Franklin Pierce University men’s soccer team on Friday night, senior midfielder George Levantakis (Lynnfield, Mass.) was a fitting player to score the game’s only goal on Senior Night at Sodexo Field. Levantakis got a fortunate bounce to score in the 13th minute, lifting the Ravens to a 1-0 win over Assumption in Northeast-10 Conference play.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (October 27, 2015) – The Franklin Pierce University men’s soccer team got second-half goals from junior midfielder Gabriel Batista (Fortaleza, Brazil) and senior forward Marius Preber (Jessheim, Norway) on Tuesday afternoon, as the Ravens forged a 3-3 tie through the end of regulation, but Le Moyne’s Rossel Cacho had other ideas. The junior forward put home the golden goal in the 104th minute, 3:21 into the second overtime, to lift the Dolphins to a 4-3 win in Northeast-10 Conference play at Ted Grant Field.

RINDGE, N.H. (October 24, 2015) – In a script different from recent games, it was the Franklin Pierce University men’s soccer team which erased a late deficit on Saturday night, as senior midfielder Lorris Cortijo (Paris, France) knotted the game at 2-2 with just 1:17 to play in regulation. The effort went for naught however, as Saint Rose sophomore forward Romaine Williamson buried a rebound 3:35 into overtime to send the Golden Knights away with a 3-2 win in Northeast-10 Conference play at Sodexo Field.

(October 21, 2015) – For the third straight game, the Franklin Pierce University men’s soccer team surrendered the game’s decisive goal with less than 20 minutes to play in regulation on Wednesday afternoon. This time, a 2-0 lead in the 67th minute was undone by goals in the 80th and 84th minutes, as the Ravens ultimately played to a 2-0 draw on the road at Bentley in Northeast-10 Conference play.

(October 17, 2015) – After having seen three second-half leads evaporate in the last month, the Franklin Pierce University men’s soccer team was again undone in the final 45 minutes on Saturday night, though this time, the decisive blow came later and harsher than it had before. Merrimack junior forward Jaime Cortes Torres headed home a cross with just eight seconds remaining in regulation to lift the Warriors to a 2-1 win in Northeast-10 Conference play at Martone-Mejail Field.

The penalty kick from graduate student midfielder Alejandro Penzini would stand as the game’s final goal at Sodexo Field, as the two sides played to a 2-2 draw in Northeast-10 Conference play.
