Bird Named Sport Excellence Recipient; Seven Ravens Earn Spots on NE-10 Academic All-Conference Teams

RINDGE, N.H. (July 11, 2016) – Senior right-hander Tanner Bird (Adams, Mass.) of the Franklin Pierce University baseball team has been named his sport’s Sport Excellence award winner by the Northeast-10 Conference, as announced earlier this month by the Conference office. In addition, Bird, teammate and senior shortstop Justin Brock (Latham, N.Y.), women’s golf sophomore Anna Haynes (Hopedale, Mass.), men’s lacrosse junior midfielder Nick Bradshaw (Westbury, N.Y.), women’s lacrosse senior midfielder Lauren Beville (Jamesville, N.Y.), men’s track & field junior Jon Holmes (Albany, N.Y.) and women’s track & field senior Nadine Hyde (Maple Valley, Wash.) have all earned Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference honors. The selected Ravens were among a record 106 student-athletes across 10 sports honored by the Northeast-10.

(June 2, 2016) – Senior midfielder Lauren Beville (Jamesville, N.Y.) of the Franklin Pierce University women’s lacrosse team has been selected to participate in the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association’s North/South Senior All-Star Game, as announced last week by the IWLCA. Beville will join 20 of her peers on the Division II North Team, which will square off against the Division II South Team.

RINDGE, N.H. (April 30, 2016) -- The Franklin Pierce women’s lacrosse team held its own with No. 2 Le Moyne for the first half, but a second-half surge of 12-1 by the Dolphins left the Ravens trailing and unable to come back, as they fell in their season finale, 19-6.

(April 27, 2016) – After the Franklin Pierce University women’s lacrosse team struck first on Wednesday night, No. 1 nationally ranked Adelphi rattled off the next five goals, and eight of the first half’s 10 remaining goals, to take control on the way to a 15-4 victory in Northeast-10 Conference play. Junior attack Jacqueline Jahelka -- who ranks fifth in the country in goal scoring -- led the way for Adelphi with seven goals and one assist.

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. (April 23, 2016) -- The Franklin Pierce University women’s lacrosse team stepped ahead early in the first half, but the Pace Setters caught up and took a three-goal lead heading into halftime. The Setters able to steadily score in the second half, and the Ravens were not able to catch up, as they ultimately fell, 16-11, in Saturday afternoon’s Northeast-10 Conference game at Pace Stadium.

(April 19, 2016) – After building up an 8-4 halftime lead, No. 17 nationally ranked Bentley held serve in the second half of Tuesday night to deal the Franklin Pierce University women’s lacrosse team a 15-11 defeat in Northeast-10 Conference play at Bentley. Three different Bentley players recorded hat tricks, while Franklin Pierce sophomore midfielder Caitlin Sweeney (Shirley, N.Y.) led all players with six goals.

Southern Connecticut State University was able to tie the game in the second half, but a final push by sophomore midfielder Caitlin Sweeney (Shirley, N.Y.) allowed the Ravens to win the Northeast-10 conference contest at Sodexo Field, 14-13.

(April 13, 2016) -- The Franklin Pierce University women’s lacrosse team was able to take an early lead against American International, but the Yellow Jackets came back with six straight goals to take the lead going into halftime. Senior midfielder Lauren Beville (Jamesville, N.Y.) eventually scored the game-winner for the Ravens in the second half of a 14-10 win at Sodexo Field on Wednesday night.

Despite senior midfielder Lauren Beville’s (Jamesville, N.Y.) five-goal day, the Ravens fell, 17-11, in Saturday afternoon’s Northeast-10 Conference contest.
