Franklin Pierce Piles up 14 NE10 Academic All-Conference Selections

MANSFIELD, Mass. (June 29, 2021) -- Franklin Pierce University has had 14 student-athletes earn Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference honors for the spring season, as announced on Tuesday by the league office. The selected Ravens were among 113 student-athletes across 10 sports honored by the NE10.
Yamamoto Named Player of the Year, Bishop Tabbed Coach of the Year, Five Others Named All-Conference

For the second straight season, the Franklin Pierce University women’s golf team had an athlete named the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Year, this time it belongs to graduate student Zoey Yamamoto (Honolulu, Hawaii) while women’s head coach Tyler Bishop was selected as the women’s coach of the year this week after a collection of votes by the league's head coaches.
Men’s Golf Finishes 10th at NCAA East Regional

NORTH EAST, Pa. (May 8, 2021) - It was not to be for the Franklin Pierce University men’s golf team on Saturday at the NCAA Championship Atlantic/East Regional. Five rounds in the 80s meant a final-round total of 327 strokes (+39), and the Ravens dropped from fourth after the second round all the way to a 10th-place finish to close out their season. The Atlantic/East Regional was hosted by Mercyhurst University at the par-72 Lake View Country Club, which checked in at 6850 yards for the final round.

NORTH EAST, Pa. (May 7, 2021) - Through two rounds at the three-day NCAA Championship Atlantic/East Regional, the Franklin Pierce University men’s golf team is in a heated battle for spots in the national tournament. The Ravens have put together a two-day total of 616 strokes (+40) and currently sit in the fourth and final qualifying spot, but third through sixth positions are separated by just four shots. The Atlantic/East Regional is being hosted by Mercyhurst University at the par-72 Lake View Country Club, which checks in at 6883 yards.

NORTH EAST, Pa. (May 6, 2021) - Making its fourth straight appearance in the NCAA Championship Atlantic/East Regional, the Franklin Pierce University men’s golf team got off to a solid start on Thursday, as the Ravens put together an opening-round 305 (+17) and sit fourth after the first of three rounds. Sophomore Michael Sosik (Fiskdale, Mass.) paced Franklin Pierce on the first day with a one-over-par 73 and is tied-second, one shot off the individual lead. The Atlantic/East Regional is being hosted by Mercyhurst University at the par-72 Lake View Country Club, which checks in at 6883 yards.

INDIANAPOLIS (April 23, 2021) - For the fourth straight season, and the fifth time in program history, the Franklin Pierce University men’s golf program is headed to the NCAA Championships. The Ravens were selected as the third seed in the East Region, as announced on Friday afternoon by the NCAA, and will travel to North East, Pa., for the Atlantic/East Regional. Competition is slated for May 6-8 at Lake View Country Club, and Mercyhurst University will serve as the host institution.

The no. 3 regionally-ranked Franklin Pierce University men’s golf team were victorious in a head-to-head competition on Wednesday beating out Northeast-10 Conference program Saint Anselm College by four strokes, 302 (+18)-306 (+22).
Men’s Golf Ranked Third in First Edition of NCAA Regional Rankings

For the fourth straight season, the Franklin Pierce University men’s golf program has been honored by the NCAA with a ranking in the East Region. In the first edition of the regional poll, which came out on April 9th, the Crimson and Grey were placed third in the east.

Myers Brings Home First in Three Team Tournament

The Franklin Pierce University Men’s Golf competed in their second tournament this week and placed second out of three team at the Granite State Spring Invite at the Candia Woods Golf Links. Graduate student Sam Myers (Colchester, Vt.) took home medalist honors firing a one-under-par 70 for first place.

The Franklin Pierce University Men’s Golf team hit the road to open up the 2021 season with an invitational hosted by the University of Hartford and the Blackledge Country Club. Liam Donohue (Vernon, Conn.) and Sam Myers (Colchester, Vt.) paced Franklin Pierce to a fourth place finish with a 73 (+1) and 78 (+6) respectfully.

Being on a sports team is something athletes cherish throughout their lives. Teams are often more like families, with your brothers by your side as you run to the end zone, and your sisters cheering you on as you put a perfect shot into the net for the winning goal. However, in Raven Nation, this family dynamic extends beyond the male and female sports teams. Several Athletics programs on campus are coed in many of their operations, where the men’s and women’s teams frequently practice and interact together, making the family bigger. While it may be intimidating working with the other gender, many Ravens we talked to enjoy the challenges and the rewards of doing so.
