Nine Field Hockey Players Named To NFHCA Division II National Academic Squad

RINDGE, N.H. (March 3, 2009) The Franklin Pierce University field hockey team was recognized with a team academic award, while nine Ravens have been named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division II National Academic Squad.
Kristin Tormollan Featured In Sports Illustrated's "Faces In The Crowd"

RINDGE, N.H. (December 4, 2008) Freshman goalkeeper Kristin Tormollan (Waterville, Maine/Waterville) of the Franklin Pierce University field hockey team is featured in the Faces in the Crowd section of the December 8 issue of Sports Illustrated. The Sportsman of the Year double issue hits newsstands this weekend and Tormollan will also be featured online at www.si.com/faces. During the season, Tormollan helped lead Franklin Pierce to its first berth in the Northeast-10 Conference Championships since the 2001 season.

(November 26, 2008) Senior defenders Stephanie Howard (Norwalk, Conn./Norwalk) and Kayleigh Jaksina (Townsend, Mass./North Middlesex) represented the Franklin Pierce University field hockey team on the north squad at the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division II North/South Senior All-Star Game, played on Saturday, Nov. 22 at University of Louisville.

(November 3, 2008) Junior forward Ashley Abernethy (Bellingham, Mass./Bellingham) and senior defender Stephanie Howard (Norwalk, Conn./Norwalk) of the Franklin Pierce University field hockey team have both been named Northeast-10 Conference Freshman of the Week for the week ending on Nov. 2, as announced Monday by the conference office.

(November 3, 2008) Senior defenders Stephanie Howard (Norwalk, Conn./Norwalk) and Kayleigh Jaksina (Townsend, Mass./North Middlesex) of the Franklin Pierce University field hockey tame have both been named National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II Senior All-Stars, as announced Monday by the NFHCA. The pair will represent Franklin Pierce on the north squad at the Division II North/South Senior All-Star Game on Saturday, Nov. 22 at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Ky. at 5:30 p.m.

RINDGE, N.H. (October 31, 2008) Freshman goalkeeper Kristin Tormollan (Waterville, Maine/Waterville) of the Franklin Pierce University field hockey team has been named Northeast-10 Conference Goalkeeper of the Year, as announced Friday by the conference office. Tormollan was also selected to the All-Northeast-10 First Team and the conferences All-Rookie Team. In addition, freshman forward Danielle Dolan (West Brookfield, Mass./Quaboag Regional) has been named to the Northeast-10 All-Rookie Team. The duo led the Ravens to a 7-13 record (7-11 NE-10) and the schools first appearance in the Northeast-10 Conference Championships since 2001.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (October 29, 2008) Senior defender Stephanie Howard (Norwalk, Conn./Nowalk) scored on a first-half penalty stroke on Wednesday afternoon, but the sixth-seeded Franklin Pierce University field hockey team was defeated by third-seeded and No. 8 nationally ranked Southern Connecticut State in the quarterfinal round of the Northeast-10 Conference Championships at Jess Dow Field. Sophomore forward Sara Winterbottom (Burlington, Conn./Lewis Mills) scored twice in the victory for SCSU.

(October 27, 2008) The sixth-seeded Franklin Pierce University field hockey team makes its first appearance in the Northeast-10 Conference Championships since the 2001 season on Wednesday afternoon, when it travels to third-seeded Southern Connecticut State for a quarterfinal contest. Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Jess Dow Field in New Haven, Conn.

Freshman midfielder Kimberly Jaksina (Townsend, Mass./North Middlesex) scored the only goal of the game for Franklin Pierce.

(October 22, 2008) Senior forward Andrea Slaven (Danvers, Mass./Bishop Fenwick) scored the only goal of the game on Wednesday afternoon to lead Saint Michaels to a 1-0 victory over the Franklin Pierce University field hockey team in Northeast-10 Conference play at Sodexo Field. Freshman goalkeeper Kristin Tormollan (Waterville, Maine/Waterville) made 12 saves for Franklin Pierce in defeat.

(October 16, 2008) Sophomore midfielder Ashley Moirano (Vero Beach, Fla./South Burlington (Vt.)) collected three points on a goal and an assist Thursday night to lead the Franklin Pierce University field hockey team to a 3-0 victory over American International in Northeast-10 Conference play at Sodexo Field. Freshman goalkeeper Kristin Tormollan (Waterville, Maine/Waterville) made seven saves in net to earn the shutout for the Ravens.
