RINDGE, N.H. (October 31, 2008) – Freshman goalkeeper Kristin Tormollan (Waterville, Maine/Waterville) of the Franklin Pierce University field hockey team has been named Northeast-10 Conference Goalkeeper of the Year, as announced Friday by the conference office. Tormollan was also selected to the All-Northeast-10 First Team and the conference’s All-Rookie Team. In addition, freshman forward Danielle Dolan (West Brookfield, Mass./Quaboag Regional) has been named to the Northeast-10 All-Rookie Team. The duo led the Ravens to a 7-13 record (7-11 NE-10) and the school’s first appearance in the Northeast-10 Conference Championships since 2001.

Tormollan played all but 5:35 in front of the Franklin Pierce cage this season and posted a 7-13 record. Her 126 saves ranked fourth in the Northeast-10, while she also finished sixth in goals against average (2.13) and seventh in save percentage (.746). Twice on the season, Tormollan posted double-digit saves in a game, including 10 saves against C.W. Post in her first collegiate game and a season-high 12 saves in a 1-0 loss to Saint Michael’s in the final week of the season. Tormollan also notched two shutouts during her freshman campaign: the first a four-save effort against Merrimack on Sept. 6 and the latter a seven-save affair on Oct. 16 against American International. In addition, Tormollan set Franklin Pierce single-season records among goalkeepers for minutes played (1414), games played (20) and games started (20).

Dolan finished the season as the leading rookie scorer for Franklin Pierce with 10 points and also finished in a three-way tie for the team lead with five goals. Dolan’s five goals finished second in the Northeast-10, behind only Amanda McLean of American International (six goals), in freshman goal-scoring. Dolan scored the first goal of her career in her second collegiate game, as she netted the lone Franklin Pierce goal in a 2-1 loss at Southern Connecticut State on Sept. 2. Later in the season, she would record her first multiple-goal game when she scored twice, including the game-winner, to lead the Ravens to a 4-3 win at home over SCSU on Sept. 30.
