Bio

Cody Kauffman '12 enters the second season of his third stint as an assistant coach (seveth season overall) with the Franklin Pierce University baseball program in 2023. Kauffman returned to Rindge, yet again, prior to the 2022 campaign. He serves as Associate Head Coach under head coach Mike Chambers '06 and coordinates all recruiting initiatives, while also assisting with all duties pertaining to the operation of the six-time regional champions.

Kauffman returns to where he began his collegiate coaching career, as he was initially an assistant for the Ravens in 2013 and 2014, under Jayson King. Following his first stint in Rindge, Kauffman spent time in support-staff roles in the Chicago Cubs' minor league system and with USA Baseball. He then returned under King beginning in 2016, and stuck around as Chambers' top assistant coach (and later Associate Head Coach) when the latter took the reins of the program in 2017. Kauffman's second go-around with the Ravens lasted through 2018, at which point he departed to pursue an oppurtunity as an assistant coach in the Ivy League at Brown. He returned home to Franklin Pierce for the 2021-22 academic year following three seasons as an assistant at Merrimack.

Though Kauffman only spent 2009 and 2010 with the Ravens (player bio) after transferring from Massachusetts Amherst, he logged 111 starts in crimson and grey, primarily at second base, and left his mark on the program. As a senior in 2010, he hit .311/.387/.436 over 225 at-bats and finished second in the Northeast-10 with 154 assists on his way to a selection to the Rawlings East Region Gold Glove Team. He also finished fourth in the Conference in doubles (17), sixth in hits (70) and seventh in total bases (98). In six games at the NCAA Championship East Regional, he hit 10-for-25 with a pair of doubles to earn selection to the East Regional All-Tournament team. He set a school record by being hit with 17 pitches in a season.

Originally from Blue Bell, Pa., Kauffman received his degree from Franklin Pierce in sports and recreation management in 2012 and later earned his master's in leadership from the University as well.. In July 2012, he was married to former Ravens soccer All-American, Amanda Panaro '12 (bio).
