RINDGE, N.H. (May 9, 2018) – Senior third baseman John Friday (Southborough, Mass.), senior center fielder Adam Chase (Bridgewater, Mass.) and junior right-hander Zach Hart (Wallingford, Conn.) have all been named to the All-Northeast-10 Conference First Team, which headlines seven All-Conference selections for the Franklin Pierce University baseball team, as announced on Wednesday by the NE10 office. In all, the Ravens had eight players honored in the NE10’s end-of-the-season awards.

Behind the trio of First-Team selections, graduate student first baseman Mike Coggeshall (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and junior left fielder Brad Roberto (San Diego, Calif.) landed on the All-NE10 Second Team. Meanwhile, a pair of senior right-handed pitchers, John Amendola (Wallingford, Conn.) and Ryan Covelle (Medford, Mass.), were named to the All-NE10 Third Team. Freshman right-hander Zachary Player (East Hampton, Conn.) was named to the NE10 All-Rookie Team.

Friday earns his second straight All-NE10 selection, as he was named to the Third Team a year ago. He has played in 41 of the team’s 46 games this spring, primarily at third base, and has posted a slash line of .368/.468/.568, for an OPS of 1.036 through 155 at-bats (57-for-155). He has hit 16 doubles and five home runs, scored 30 times and driven in 22 runs. He has drawn 25 walks against just 15 strikeouts on the year. The 16 doubles currently leads the league. Friday also currently ranks third in the NE10 in batting average and slugging percentage, as well as sixth in on-base percentage.

Chase also earns his second straight All-Conference nod, as he landed on the Second Team in 2017. He has played in all 46 games, splitting time between right field and center field, and has posted a .320/.425/.494 slash line over 178 at-bats (57-for-178). He has recorded 20 extra-base hits on 13 doubles, three triples and four home runs, scored 38 runs and driven in 37. He has drawn 25 walks against 27 strikeouts. Chase’s slugging percentage currently ranks 11th in the NE10, while the 13 doubles are tied for 10th.

Hart earns his first career All-NE10 selection with a breakout season in 2018. He has made 11 starts, and struck out 80 batters over 75.1 innings while doing so, to register 9.56 strikeouts per nine innings. He has allowed 19 runs (17 earned) on 56 hits and walked 12 against the 80 strikeouts, on his way to a 2.03 ERA and a 7-1 record, which includes one complete game, which was a shutout. Hart currently ranks fifth in the NE10 in strikeouts and ERA, seventh in innings pitched and ninth in strikeouts per nine innings.

Coggeshall picks up All-NE10 accolades in his only season as a Raven and earns them for the second time overall, as he was a Third-Team pick at Assumption in 2016. He has appeared in 43 games for the Ravens, primarily at first base, and slashed .361/.469/.494 to compile a .963 OPS over 158 at-bats (57-for-158). He has hit 13 doubles, one triple and two home runs, scored 25 times and driven in 30 runs, while drawing 31 walks against 20 strikeouts. Coggeshall ranks fifth in the NE10 in on-base percentage, sixth in batting average and 12th in slugging percentage, while the 31 walks are tied for fourth in the league.

Roberto earns his first career All-NE10 selection in his first full season in the field for the Ravens. Splitting time between center field and left field, he has appeared in all 46 games and put together a slash line of .347/.419/.452 over 199 at-bats (69-for-199). He has hit 15 doubles and a pair of home runs, scored 44 runs and driven in 32, while walking 22 times and striking out 25 times. He has also recorded a team-high 11 stolen bases on 13 attempts. The 44 runs scored ranks seventh in the NE10.

Amendola chalks up his second straight All-NE10 honor after landing on the First Team a year ago. In 13 appearances on the mound, including 12 starts, he has recorded 75 strikeouts over 86 innings of work, which amounts to 7.85 strikeouts per nine innings. He has allowed 31 runs (27 earned) on 82 hits and walked just eight against the 75 strikeouts on the way to a 2.83 ERA and a 6-1 record with one save. The 86 innings pitched currently leads the NE10, while Amendola also ranks seventh in strikeouts, 15th in ERA and 17th in strikeouts per nine innings.

Covelle, who more than doubled his previous career high in innings pitched this spring, earns his first career All-NE10 selection. Pitching in many various circumstances over the course of the spring, Covelle has made 17 appearances on the mound, including six starts, and logged 59 innings of work. He has struck out 64 batters to chalk up 9.76 strikeouts per nine innings. He has allowed 21 runs (16 earned) on 49 hits and walked 12 against the 64 strikeouts, on the way to a 2.44 ERA and a 6-3 record with two saves. He threw one complete game, which was a four-hit shutout, along the way. Covelle ranks seventh in the NE10 in strikeouts per nine innings and 10th in ERA.

Player missed chunks of the season due to injury, but showed his promise in the 9.2 innings he has spent on the hill so far over five appearances. He allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits, walked four and struck out seven to post a 1.86 ERA and a 2-0 record out of the bullpen.

The Ravens (32-13-1) were eliminated in the first round of the NE10 Championship on Tuesday night and now await their NCAA Championship fate. The tournament field will be announced at ncaa.com on Sunday at 10 p.m.
