Baseball’s Chase, Amendola Earn NE10 Weekly Honors

RINDGE, N.H. (April 9, 2018) – Senior right fielder Adam Chase (Bridgewater, Mass.) and senior right-hander John Amendola (Wallingford, Conn.) of the Franklin Pierce University baseball team have been named Northeast-10 Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for the week ending on April 8, as announced on Monday afternoon by the NE10.

Chase hit .636/.714/.818 for a 1.532 OPS over 11 at-bats (7-for-11) in a 3-0 week for the Ravens. He hit two doubles, scored six runs and drove in two others. Chase went 3-for-3 with a walk and scored three times in a win over Saint Anselm at home on Thursday afternoon. In a doubleheader sweep of AIC on Saturday, also at home, the senior went a combined 4-for-8 with a pair of doubles, scored three times and drove in two runs.

On the season, through 28 games and 106 at-bats (32-for-106), Chase has slashed .302/.423/.387 with seven doubles and one triple. He has scored 24 runs and driven in 11 more, and has walked 15 times against 18 strikeouts.

Amendola took the ball against Saint Anselm on Thursday and defeated the Hawks, as he fired eight scoreless innings of one-hit ball on the way to a win. He did not issue a walk and struck out six batters in the Ravens’ 12-0 win.

On the season, Amendola has logged 50 innings over seven starts thus far. He has allowed 17 runs (15 earned) on 40 hits, walked six and struck out 39 (7.02 K/9 IP) to chalk up a 2.70 ERA. It has all added up to a 3-1 record for Amendola.

The Ravens (19-8-1, 9-2 NE10, 4-1 NE Div.) return to the field on Wednesday, April 11, when they remain home to host in-state foe Southern New Hampshire in an NE10 Northeast Division contest. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. at Pappas Field in Rindge.
