St. Thomas Aquinas Upends Stonehill, 8-0, in Elimination game at NCAA Championship East Regional

RINDGE, N.H. (May 16, 2015) – Senior Stanley Susana (Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic) tagged two hits and brought home a game-high three RBIs, as the sixth-seeded St. Thomas Aquinas College Spartans defeated the second-seeded Stonehill College Skyhawks by a final score of 8-0 on the third day of the 2015 NCAA Baseball Championship East Regional at Dr. Arthur and Martha Pappas Field, on the campus of Franklin Pierce, Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Spartans improve to 29-18-1 while the Skyhawks drop to 34-15-1 and end their season with that record. Stonehill is now eliminated from the tournament, while St. Thomas Aquinas advances to a matchup against Wilmington at 10 p.m. later tonight. The winner of the nightcap will advance to the final round of the East Regional

Susana got the ball rolling with a two-run single in the bottom of the second inning, giving the Spartans all the lead they would not relinquish. St. Thomas Aquinas would add runs in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings, capitalizing on walks and errors throughout the nine frames.

Senior Nick May (Middletown, N.Y.) went the distance for the complete game shutout for St. Thomas Aquinas, improving his record to 7-2. Junior Neal Horan (Mashpee, Mass.) 4.1 innings, giving up five earned runs in the loss for Stonehill.
