(August 5, 2013) – After wrapping up his career with an All-Northeast-10 Conference First Team selection this spring for the Franklin Pierce University baseball team, shortstop Dan Kemp (Sturbridge, Mass.) has signed a minor league contract with the Seattle Mariners. He will report immediately to the Mariners rookie-level, Appalachian League affiliate, the Pulaski Mariners.

RINDGE, N.H. (July 2, 2013) – Franklin Pierce University men’s lacrosse standout Ben McDannell (Morrisville, Pa.) and baseball standout Ryan Thompson (Calgary, Alberta) were named to the 2013 Northeast-10 Conference All-Academic Team in their respective sport on Tuesday as announced by the league. It marked the second-consecutive year both student-athletes were named to the NE-10 academic squads.

RINDGE, N.H. (June 8, 2013) – In a span of 20 minutes on Saturday afternoon, the East Region champion Franklin Pierce University baseball team went from having nobody taken in the 2013 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft to producing arguably the strongest draft class in program history. Over just 42 picks in the 13th and 14th rounds, the Ravens had three pitchers taken, marking the first time in program history three players were taken in the first 15 rounds. Another pick in the 16th round marked only the third time the program has had four players taken in the same draft (2011, 2006).

RINDGE, N.H. (June 5, 2013) – With the program’s sixth NCAA Regional title now in the rearview mirror, the Franklin Pierce University baseball team turns its sights ahead to the 2014 campaign and defending the East Regional crown. This week, the program will learn plenty about what pieces will return to Rindge in the fall, as it hopes to have a banner year in the 2013 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, scheduled for Thursday through Saturday, June 6-8. The Ravens have three pitchers who could figure prominently in the Draft, and hope to challenge the program’s all-time record of five selections, set in 2006.

(May 30, 2013) -- Franklin Pierce University baseball standout Ryan Thompson (Calgary, Alberta) on Thursday was named to the 2013 CoSIDA Academic All-America Third-Team for his impressive performances on the field and in the classroom this season. It marks the second-consecutive year Thompson, a senior right-handed pitcher, was named a third-team academic all-American by the organization.

CARY, N.C. (May 29, 2013) – Junior first baseman Zach Mathieu (Derry, N.H.) laced a two-run double into the right-field corner in the third inning on Wednesday afternoon at Coleman Field at the USA Baseball National Training Complex, but it would be the final run-scoring play of the season for the No. 11 nationally ranked and East Region Franklin Pierce University baseball team. The double gave the team a 3-1 lead at the time, but the pitching staff surrendered five in the bottom half of the third as the Ravens went on to a 10-3 loss at the hands of No. 14/18 and Midwest Region champion Grand Valley State on the fifth day of the NCAA Championship National Finals, hosted by Town of Cary and Mount Olive College.

(May 28, 2013) – Junior right-hander Trevor Graham (Sebastian, Fla.) and junior first baseman Zach Mathieu (Derry, N.H.) of the East Region champion Franklin Pierce University baseball team have been selected to participate in the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association All-Star Game, as announced Tuesday by the NEIBA. This year’s game is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Monday, June 3 at LeLacheur Park in Lowell, Mass.

The Franklin Pierce University baseball team captured the sixth NCAA Regional title in program history (2013, 2010, 2008, 2007, 2006, 2003) on Sunday, May 19, with a 5-1 win over Wilmington (Del.) in the title game of the NCAA Championship East Regional at Penmen Field in Manchester, N.H. The regional championship advanced the Ravens to the NCAA Championship National Finals, hosted by Mount Olive and the Town of Cary at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, N.C.

(May 27, 2013) – Junior first baseman Zach Mathieu (Derry, N.H.) drilled a two-run double to key a four-run rally in the top of the seventh inning on Monday evening, but the No. 11 nationally ranked and East Region champion Franklin Pierce University baseball team could get no closer than one run in a come-from-behind effort against No. 2/21 and Central Region champion Minnesota State, Mankato. The double made it 6-5 at the time, but Minnesota State would tack on four runs in the eighth to come away with a 10-5 win at Coleman Field at the USA Baseball National Training Complex on the third day of the NCAA Championship National Finals, co-hosted by Town of Cary and Mount Olive College.

(May 25, 2013) – Freshman second baseman Justin Brock (Latham, N.Y.) pulled a two-out RBI single through the left side of the infield in the bottom of the eighth inning on Saturday afternoon at the USA Baseball National Training Complex. It brought home what would stand as the game’s only run, as the No. 11 nationally ranked and East Region champion Franklin Pierce University baseball team posted a 1-0 win over No. 17 Shippensburg, the Atlantic Region champion, in the first game of the NCAA Championship National Finals, co-hosted by Town of Cary and Matt Olive College. Junior right-hander Trevor Graham (Sebastian, Fla.) struck out nine over eight shutout innings on the mound in the victory for Franklin Pierce.
