Drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 13th round (378 overall) of the 2013 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft (Baseball-Reference page).

Finished his career as the program's all-time leader in earned-run average (1.63, minimum 100 career innings).

Among single-season records, finished his career first in strikeouts (123, 2013). Also ranked second in innings pitched (110.1, 2013), tied for third in wins (10, 2013), ranked ninth in earned-run average (1.63, 2013) and tied for 16th in appearances (16, 2013).
