Franklin Pierce Baseball The Ravens finished the season ranked No. 6/7 nationally, their highest finish since 2006.

RINDGE, N.H. (June 2, 2010) – The East Region champion and national semifinalist Franklin Pierce University baseball team has been ranked No. 6 nationally in the final Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Poll, as announced Tuesday by the publication. In addition, the Ravens finished their 2010 campaign No. 7 in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Poll and also placed seventh in the Ping!Baseball Top-30 Rankings.

Franklin Pierce (43-17-1) is ranked in a tie for No. 6 nationally in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Poll, the team's highest finish since ranking No. 4 at the end of 2006. The final poll of the season sees the Ravens pick up 386 points in the poll, up 92 from a week ago, and move up seven spots from 13th. Fellow Northeast-10 member Southern Connecticut State (38-13-1) is the only other East Region team in the 30-team poll, as the Owls finished at No. 29. At the top of the poll, Southern Indiana (52-14) captured the national championship to jump up eight spots and claim the No. 1 position. California, San Diego (54-8) had been in the top spot for three straight weeks, but slips to No. 2 to conclude the season after falling in the national championship game.

The Ravens are ranked No. 7 nationally in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Poll. The final poll of the season sees Franklin Pierce collect 313 points, up 256 from a week ago, and shoot up 17 spots from 24th. Meanwhile, Southern Connecticut State tumbled six spots to No. 20 and is the only other East Region team in the 25-team poll. Southern Indiana took over the top spot in the NCBWA poll as well, climbing 10 sports after previously sitting in 11th. California, San Diego fell to second after two weeks at the top.

Franklin Pierce also finished seventh nationally in the Ping!Baseball Top-30 Rankings. The final weekly ranking of the season sees the Ravens pick up eight positions after being 15th last week. Once again, Southern Connecticut State is the only other East Region squad to crack the top 30, as the Owls jumped into the rankings in 30th. Up front, California, San Diego remains in the first position for the third week in a row.

The Ravens captured their fourth NCAA Championship Regional title in the last five years and the fifth in program history last month on their way to participating in the NCAA Championship National Finals. Franklin Pierce won two games at the National Finals and finished the season as a national semifinalist for the third time in team history.
