Golf Program Earns First-Ever Bid to NCAA Tournament

RINDGE, N.H. (April 27, 2012) -- Friday was a historical day for the Franklin Pierce University golf team as the Ravens were selected to compete in the 2012 NCAA Division II Tournament, marking the program's first-ever bid to the national competition. The national tournament will begin with the East/Atlantic Super Regional on May 7-9 at the Hershey Country Club-East Course in Hershey, Pa. Millersville University will serve as the host school for the regional.

(April 7, 2012) -- The Franklin Pierce University golf team shot a 27-over-par, 315, on Saturday during the final round of the 2012 FPU Spring Invitational to finish in third place out of five teams. The Ravens finished with a two-round total of 646 (+70), as their second round score was 16 strokes lower than the 331 posted during Friday's opening round. The invite was held at the Bretwood Country Club and its North Course in Keene, N.H.

RINDGE, N.H. (March 28, 2012) -- The Franklin Pierce University golf team put together one impressive fall season back in September and October. The Ravens finish to the fall season has put them in contention for an at-large bid to the 2012 NCAA Division II Tournament, which will be held in May. To reach the national tournament, Franklin Pierce will have to string together an equally impressive spring season, which began this past weekend at the St. Thomas Aquinas Invitational at Rum Point Golf Course in Berlin, Md. Teeing off against some of the top teams in the East region, the Ravens finished eighth out of 14 after shooting a two-round score of 623 (+47).

RINDGE, N.H. (October 21, 2011) -- The Franklin Pierce golf team made history in early October when it finished second at the Northeast-10 Conference Championship. It was the best finish ever for the program. That finish was one of several memorable events during the fall season for the team. The squad was honored at halftime of Thursday's field hockey match for its high NE-10 finish. (October 18, 2011) -- The Franklin Pierce University golf team played just as strong in Tuesday's final round of the 2011 NEIGA Championship and ultimately finished tied for 11th out of 34 teams (628, +52) in the prestigious tournament at The Captains Course in Cape Cod, Mass. After shooting a 315 (+27) in the opening round on Monday, the Ravens responded with an even better score in the final round on Tuesday as they carded a 313 (+25).

(October 13, 2011) – The Franklin Pierce University golf team continued its strong fall season on Wednesday as the Ravens fired a 24-over-par, 312, to win the 2011 FPU Fall Invitational at the Bretwood Country Club in Keene, N.H. It marked Franklin Pierce’s second top-two finish in the last three tournaments, including a runner-up placing at the Northeast-10 Conference Championship two weeks ago.
