First weekly award for the rookie this season

RINDGE, N.H. (April 9, 2012) -- Franklin Pierce University golf standout C.J. Konkowski (Chesterfield, N.H.) on Monday was named the Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week in the sport, as announced by the league. It marks the first weekly award for Konkowski this season.

Konkowski took home the honor after an impressive performance this past weekend in the FPU Spring Invitational at Bretwood Country Club in Keene, N.H. Konkowski carded a two-round total of 151 (+7) and finished in a tie for first place in the individual standings following 36 holes of regulation play. He shot a three-over-par, 75, in Friday's first round, and followed with a four-over, 76, during Saturday's final round.

Following the conclusion of the 36-hole tournament, Konkowski advanced to a sudden death playoff with UMass-Lowell's Sylvain Debiais, who eventually claimed the tournament's medalist honor as he sunk a 15-foot birdie putt on the first playoff hole.

Konkowski and the Ravens, who are currently ranked ninth in the NCAA East Region Poll, return to action this weekend when they compete in the River Hawk Invitational at Meadow Creek Golf Club in Dracut, Mass.
