Adam Spencer sits in 14th place following the first round

LUDLOW, Mass. (April 16, 2012) -- The Franklin Pierce University golf team sits in fifth place out of six teams after firing a 28-over-par, 316, on Tuesday during the opening round of the AIC/NE-10 Invitational at the Ludlow Country Club in Ludlow, Mass. 

Host-school American International, Pace and UMass-Lowell are in a three-way tie for first after shooting a 14-over, 302, on Monday.

Franklin Pierce was led in the opening round by junior Ian Landry (Loudon, N.H.), who fired a three-over-par, 75, to sit in a tie for fourth place entering Tuesday's final round. His solid round came just one day after Landry finished in a tie for 11th at the River Hawk Invitational.

Landry is just five strokes off the lead, which was set by Pace's Brian Allmendinger and Bentley's Nick Clarke, as the duo fired a two-under, 70, on Monday.

Sophomore Adam Spencer (Jericho, Vt.) is tied for 14th after one round as he carded a 78 (+8). The senior duo of Brian Fleckles (Sandwich, Mass.) and B.J. Powers (Southbury, Conn.) are in 24th and 25th place, respectively, after the first round. Fleckles shot a nine-over, 81, while Powers followed with an 82 (+10). Freshman C.J. Konkowski (West Chesterfield, N.H.) was the fifth Raven to compete on the day as he shot an 84 (+12) to sit in a tie for 29th place.

The final round of the AIC/NE-10 Invitational will begin on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. Franklin Pierce will also send a five-man squad to the Worcester State Invitational on Tuesday.
