Lambert Top-15 Leads Women’s Cross Country at CCSU Mini Meet

Ravens host NE-10 Championship Nov. 9

Davies NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (October 24, 2014) – Junior Alyssa Lambert (Manchester, N.H.) ran an 11:04.78 on Friday afternoon to lead the way for the Franklin Pierce University women's cross country team at the CCSU Mini Meet, held at Stanley Park. The Ravens finished with 166 points to place seventh in their 10-team meet.

With the CCSU Mini Meet loaded with Division I talent from across New England, Franklin Pierce elected to compete in the sub-varsity race on Friday afternoon. Lambert's time was just under 30 seconds off the pace and was good for 13th position in the 82-runner field. One other Raven finished in the top-30, as freshman Natalie Davies placed 29th (11:38.24).

The next three Franklin Pierce runners were clustered within 10 spots of each other to round out the team's five scoring positions in the Hardware City. Junior Shannon Lozier (Merrimac, Mass.) ran an 11:55.63 to finish 44th, sophomore Holly Lindoe (Holbrook, N.Y.) ran an 11:59.24 to take 50th and freshman Alexa Cassara ran a 12:04.48 to place 53rd.

Rounding out Franklin Pierce's participation at the CCSU Mini Meet were junior Hadley Doubleday (Plymouth, Mass.) in 74th (13:06.04) and junior Kayla DiGiantommaso (Manchester, N.H.) in 78th (13:15.44).

New Hampshire (41 points) took first place in the sub-varsity race and posted an 18-point victory over Boston College (59), which finished second. Holy Cross (89), Yale (93) and Fairfield (124) rounded out the top five.

Individually, Boston College's Amanda Rickert ran a 10:36.44 to take first place and finish eight seconds in front of second place, which went to Providence's Keelin Hollowood (10:44.92). Holy Cross' Caroline Carr in third (10:47.14), New Hampshire's Julia Shorter in fourth (10:49.63) and Providence's Caitlin Lawlor in fifth (10:51.51) filled out the remainder of the top five.

The Ravens are idle next week, before returning to action as hosts of the Northeast-10 Conference Championship on Nov. 9 in Rindge.
