Cross Country Programs Combine to Boast Five USTFCCCA All-Academic Selections

Both Ravens squads earn team honors as well

Lozier Lozier was one of three from the Ravens women's team to earn USTFCCCA All-Academic honors.

RINDGE, N.H. (February 11, 2015) – Freshman Natalie Davies (Ware, Mass.), junior Shannon Lozier (Merrimac, Mass.) and junior Doria Brown (Little Falls, N.J.) of the Franklin Pierce University women's cross country team, as well as sophomores Dage Minors (Hamilton Parish, Bermuda) and Jon Holmes (Albany, N.Y.) of the men's team, have all earned United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic honors, as announced on Wednesday by the USTFCCCA. In addition, both the men's and women's cross country programs have been honored at the team level by the USTFCCCA All-Academic program.

Per the USTFCCCA: "Honorees must have compiled a cumulative GPA or 3.25 or greater and must have finished among the top 30 percent of total eligible runners at his or her regional championship (total Division II teams in the region multiplied by seven runners per team) or in the top half of the field at the NCAA Championships." In total, the USTFCCCA honored 262 women and 208 men for their work in the classroom and on the course this fall.

At the team level, the USTFCCCA honored all programs which scored at their respective NCAA regional meet and tallied a team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher in the fall semester. For Franklin Pierce, the women turned in a 3.30 GPA, while the men contributed a 3.09.

Davies, who is undecided on a major, turned in her top 6k time of the season at the NCAA East Regional, where she ran a 24:09.1 to finish 74th. Two weeks prior, she had finished 70th at the Northeast-10 Championship (28:39.9).

Lozier, a health sciences major, also saved her best run of the season for the East Regional, where she finished 88th, with a mark of 24:32.4. She cracked the top 80 at the Northeast-10 Championship, with a time of 28:59.4 to place 79th.

Brown, an environmental science major, finished just in front of Lozier at the East Regional, with a time of 24:31.4 to finish 87th. Brown was also in the top 80 at the Northeast-10 Championship, stopping the clock at 28:56.8 to finish 75th.

Minors, a sports and recreation management major, finished in the top 30 at the NCAA East Regional, posting a 10k time of 32:34.7 to finish 27th. In the Northeast-10 Championship, an 8k race, he was in the top 20 by finishing 17th with a mark of 28:49.9.

Holmes, a graphic design major, was 70th this fall at the East Regional, clocking in at 33:53.5. He finished just behind Minors at the Northeast-10 Championship, as he took 18th in a time of 28:51.4.
