Women's Cross Country Finishes 36th at New England Championships
Alyssa Lambert breaks 5k school record for the second-straight week
WESTFIELD, Mass. (October 7, 2012) -- The Franklin Pierce
University women's cross country team finished 36th out of 37 teams
on Sunday at the 2012 New England Championships held at Stanley
Park in Westfield, Mass.
The Ravens were led by freshman runner Alyssa Lambert (Manchester, N.H.), who finished in 189th place out of 251 competitors in a time of 20:05.87 in the 5k race. With that time, Lambert for the second-consecutive week, set a new school record for the fastest mark in the 5k.
Classmate Shannon Lozier (Merrimac, Mass.) followed in 217th place with a time of 20:40.21, while rookie Doria Brown (Little Falls, N.J.) finished in 229th in a mark of 21:08.86.
The other two Ravens to count towards the team score were freshmen Danielle Koch (Coventry, Conn.) and Sarah Barnard (Hopkinton, N.H.) in 235th and 237th place, respectively. Koch recorded a time of 21:32.40, while Barnard logged a mark of 22:01.85.
Boston College won the women's race, while Vermont finished as the runner-up in the team competition.
Franklin Pierce is off next week, but will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 20, when the Ravens compete in the Northeast-10 Conference Championship held in Syracuse, N.Y.
