Cross Country Finishes Fifth at Raider Invitational

Acebron-Peco The Ravens finished fifth at Friday afternoon's Raider Invitational.

NASHUA, N.H. (September 23, 2011) – Freshman Kelsey Devlin (Warwick, R.I.) finished 29th overall in a time of 23:55 on Friday afternoon as the Franklin Pierce University women's cross country team placed fifth in the Raider Invitational, hosted by Rivier. Saint Anselm freshman Courtney Bennett won the individual title with a time of 19:16 to lead the Hawks to the team title in the nine-team meet.

Devlin crossed the line just three seconds in front of junior Keri Marnane (Cranston, R.I.), who placed 30th with a time of 23:58. Farther back, junior Brittany Mather (North Kingstown, R.I.) finished 37th in 25:10, while freshman Maggie Campbell (Queensbury, N.Y.) was 41st with a time of 25:26. Sophomore Natasha Pastor (Fitzwilliam, N.H.) rounded out the scoring for the Ravens, as she stopped the clock at 25:41 to finish 44th.

Also in the field for Franklin Pierce on Friday were freshman Madelene Morrill (Greenville, Pa.) and sophomore Bianca Acebron-Peco (Bow, N.H.), who finished 52nd and 68th, respectively. Morrill finished with a time of 27:03, while Acebron-Peco posted a 30:17.

Saint Anselm (19 points) had eight of the first nine finishers and nine of the first 11 to storm to the team title with a 46-point win over second-place Emerson (65). Suffolk finished third (116), while Saint Joseph's (Maine) (124) finished immediately in front of Franklin Pierce (133).

Individually, Bennett finished 16 seconds in front of Saint Joseph's freshman Amber Dostie (19:32), who finished second. Behind Dostie, three more Saint Anselm runners rounded out the top five. Sophomore Allyn Doyle (20:02) was third, sophomore Katharine Meinertz (20:18) was fourth and Michaela Jancsy (20:22) was fifth.

The Ravens return to action on Saturday, Oct. 1, at the Pop Crowell Invitational, hosted by Gordon, at 10:45 a.m.
