BOSTON, Mass. (October 15, 2010) – Junior Melissa Dymek (Hubbardston, Mass.) finished 72nd overall in a time of 23:39 on Friday afternoon to lead the Franklin Pierce University cross country team to an 11th-place finish at the sixth annual Saints Invitational, hosted by Emmanuel College at Franklin Park. Babson sophomore Charlotte Margel won the individual title with a time of 19:48, while Lesley collected the team title.

Dymek paced a group of three Ravens which finished within 39 seconds of each other. Only 19 seconds behind Dymek, sophomore Keri Marnane (Cranston, R.I.) finished 83rd with a time of 23:58. Next, 20 seconds farther back, sophomore Jillian Garrity (Manchester, N.H.) placed 91st in a time of 24:18. Sophomore Brittany Mather (North Kingstown, R.I.) ran a 26:07 and freshman Natasha Pastor (Fitzwilliam, N.H.) posted a 26:08, as they finished directly behind each other in 116th and 117th to round out the scoring for Franklin Pierce in the meet.

Freshman Bianca Acebron-Peco (Bow, N.H.) and junior Elizabeth Iannuccillo (Amesbury, Mass.) closed out the participation in the event for the Ravens. Acebron-Peco stopped the clock at 26:45 to finish 126th, while Iannuccillo finished in 27:32 to place 134th.

Lesley (38 points) posted five runners in the top 12 positions to win the team title, while Babson (57) finished second despite having three of the first four finishers. Worcester State (58), Emerson (142) and Johnson & Wales (166) rounded out the top five teams.

Individually, Margel (19:48) blew away the field by nearly a minute, though the rest of the top five was bunched closely behind her. Margel's teammate, freshman Natalie Cullings (20:35), finished second by narrowly edging out Emerson sophomore Heather Hoglund (20:36), Babson junior Michelle Black (20:36) and CCRI freshman Jackie Hurteau (20:38), as the trio finished third, fourth and fifth, respectively.

The Ravens return to action on Friday, Oct. 22 at the Golden Knights Joust, hosted by Saint Rose, at 3 p.m.
