Melissa Dymek Melissa Dymek ran a personal season-best 23:55 at the Pop Crowell Invitational on Saturday.

WENTHAM, Mass. (September 25, 2009) – Sophomore Melissa Dymek (Hubbardston, Mass.) finished 163rd overall in a personal season-best time of 23:55 on Saturday to lead the Franklin Pierce University cross country team to a 26th-place finish at the Pop Crowell Invitational, hosted by Gordon. Wellesley freshman Randelle Boots won the event individually with a time of 18:55 to lead Wellesley to the team title as well.

Behind Dymek for Franklin Pierce, senior Alexandra Edwards (Smithfield, R.I.) finished 194th overall with a time of 25:00. Further back, senior Natasha Williams (Bronx, N.Y.) and sophomore Elizabeth Iannuccillo (Amesbury, Mass.) finished back-to-back with times of 27:49 and 27:53, respectively, to finish 254th and 255th. Sophomore Ciara Chicas (Westerly, R.I.) rounded out the participation in the event for the Ravens, as she placed 278th with a time of 31:40.

Wellesley (38 points) ran away with the team title, as they nearly halved the score of second-place finisher, Southern Maine (65). From there, the rest of the field was left in the dust, as Salve Regina (151), host Gordon (163) and University of New England (169) rounded out the top-five in third through fifth, respectively.

Individually, Booth finished four seconds ahead of Southern Maine freshman Jennie Foley, who ran an 18:59 to finish second. Behind her, Southern New Hampshire sophomore Emma Lundberg (19:03) and fellow Southern Maine teammate, junior Carly Dion (19:07), finished third and fourth, respectively. Salve Regina freshman Paige Pallotto rounded out the top-five with a time of 19:11.

The Ravens return to action on Saturday, Oct. 10 at the James Early Invitational, hosted by Westfield State, at 11 a.m.
