Franklin Pierce Cross Country Teams Run in Northeast-10 Championships
SMITHFIELD, R.I. (October 23, 2005)
– The Franklin Pierce University men's and women's cross
country teams participated in the 2005 Northeast-10 Championships,
hosted by Bryant University today. Overall, the men finished in
14th place while the women finished in 13th place in their final
meet of the fall season. Stonehill College won the team competition
on the men’s side, and UMass Lowell won the competition on
the women’s side.
On the women’s side, junior Michelle Frazer (Braintree,
Mass./Braintree) was the top finisher for Franklin Pierce.
She completed the 5K race in 23:18 good enough for 79th place out
of a field of 132 runners. Freshman Courtney Garrity (Manchester, N.H./Manchester
Central) finished right behind Frazer in 81st place with a
time of 23:21.
Junior captain Burkett Farquhar
(Marlborough, Conn./RHAM) was the top performer for the
Ravens in the men’s 10K race. He finished in 105th with a
time of 31:44. Sophomore Thomas
Merkt (Enfield, Conn./Cathedral) followed Farquhar,
finishing 109th with a time of 32:07.
