Franklin Pierce XC Teams Place Second, Third at Rivier Invitational
Mitchell leads women with fifth-place finish; Joslyn paces men with ninth-place showing
NASHUA, N.H. (September 12, 2003)
– The Franklin Pierce men’s and women’s cross
country teams opened their 2003 seasons with top three finishes at
the Rivier Invitational this afternoon.
The Raven men took second place with a 65 team score to finish
behind Emerson College (50 pts) and ahead of Emmanuel College (71).
The women placed third, posting a 76 team score, behind Emerson
(45) and Emmanuel (71).
Sophomore Rachel Mitchell
(Shirley, Mass./Ayer) paced the women with a fifth-place
finish, completing the course with a time of 21:26. Freshman Lisa Zizza (Quincy, Mass./Quincy)
placed 12th with a time of 23:56, while senior Jennifer Wilson (East Lyme, Conn./East
Lyme) finished 16th with a time of 25:04.
Senior captain Jeff Joslyn
(Plainfield, Conn./Plainfield) led all Franklin Pierce men
with a time of 31:42 to take ninth overall, just ahead of junior
Adam Marsh (Rutland,
Mass./Wachusett Regional) who posted a time of 32:43. Senior
David Mura (Auburn,
Mass./Auburn) took 16th in 32:46.
The Franklin Pierce harriers don’t have much of a rest this
weekend as they participate in the Shaklette Invitational at Saint
Anselm College on Sunday.
