Franklin Pierce Closes Out Season at NE-10 Conference Championships
Junior Mike Fortier places 40th overall to lead Ravens
MANCHESTER, N.H. (October 27, 2002) -
The Franklin Pierce University cross country team wrapped up the
2002 season at the Northeast-10 Conference Championships, hosted by
Saint Anselm College, this afternoon.
UMass Lowell placed eight runners in the field's top ten and
finishing with a team total of 19 points to claim the 2002
Championship on the men's side, while Stonehill College claimed the
women's championship.
The Franklin Pierce men's team placed 11th out of 13 teams,
finishing ahead of Southern New Hampshire University and College of
Saint Rose.
The top finisher for the men was junior Mike Fortier (Barre, Vt./Spaulding),
who claimed the 40th spot with his time of 29:12. Classmate Jeff Joslyn (Plainfield,
Conn./Plainfield) followed, finishing 64th with his time of
30:56.
The women's team did not have enough members to compete in the team
event, but participated individually. Freshman Rachell Mitchell (Shirley, Mass./Ayer)
was the top finisher for the women's team, placing 81st with a time
of 23:17. Junior Christine
Morschauser (Utica, N.Y./Notre Dame) placed 92nd with a time
of 24:14, while Lindsay Ketchen
(Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) placed 102nd with a time of
25:09.
The cross-country team finishes the 2002 season, highlighted with
its third-straight first place finish at the Franklin Pierce
Invitational and the Regis College Invitational.
