Men's Cross Country Team Opens with First-Place Finish
Women's Team Finishes Fifth in Season Opener
NASHUA, N.H. (September 13, 2002) -
Junior Mike Fortier (Barre,
Vt./Spaulding) posted a first-place finish with his time of
28:39 to lead the men's cross country team to a first place finish
at the Rivier Invitational this afternoon.
FPC's Jeff Joslyn (Plainfield,
Conn./Plainfield) also posted a top five finish, as he
finished fourth with his time of 30:58. Junior Dave Mura (Auburn, Mass./Auburn) placed
12th with a time of 32:54, while Kent Willingham (Jamaica, N.Y./McNair
Academy) placed 18th with a time of 35:05.
The women also had an excellent showing, finishing fifth out of a
field of ten teams. Junior captain, Christine Morschauser (Utica, N.Y./Notre
Dame) was the top women's finisher, placing 13th with her
time of 25:10. Newcomer Rachell
Mitchell (Shirley, Mass./Ayer) was outstanding in her
collegiate debut, with a 19th place finish with her time of
26:28.
The team next heads to Manchester, N.H. for the Shacklette
Invitational.
