Gowell Captures First at Regis College Invitational
Men take third with two top ten finishes
WESTON, Mass. (October 13, 2001) -
Ken Gowell (Sabattus, Maine/Oak
Hill) finished first out of a field of 58 runners with his
time of 28:48 to lead the Franklin Pierce men's cross country team
to a third place finish out of six teams this afternoon at the
Regis College Invitational.
In his first race of the year, Mike Fortier placed eighth out with
is time of 30:20, while senior Nate Kennedy (Fitzwilliam,
N.H./Monadnock) finished 16th with his time of 31:51.
Jeff Joslyn (Sterling,
Conn./Plainfield) posted a time of 35:10 to finish 40th,
while Rennie Silva (Northampton,
Mass./Northampton) followed right behind in the 46th spot
with his time of 35:39. Scott
McGrath (Ashburnham, Mass./Oakmont Regional) rounded out the
team in the 55th spot with a time of 39:15.
While FP did not have enough runners to qualify in the team
competition, Brooke Dechene
(Boxford, Mass./Boxford) finished 33rd with her time of
25:04, and Molly Rosen
(Marblehead, Mass./Marblehead) finished 63rd with a time of
28:31.
The men's and women's cross country teams next travel to Bryant
College, where they will compete in the Northeast-10 Cross Country
Championships on Sunday, October 21.
