Men's Cross Country Finishes 11th in Pop Crowell Invitational, Women Finish 18th

WENHAM, Mass. (September 22, 2001) - Senior Ken Gowell (Sabattus, Maine/Oak Hill) placed sixth in a field of over 150 runners at the Pop Crowell Invitational to help the men's team finish 11th out of 16 schools competing in this afternoon's race. The women's squad finished 18th out of 21 women's teams.

Gowell's time of 28:19 was the best among FPC's finishers, and classmate Nate Kennedy (Fitzwilliam, N.H./Monadnock) followed with a time of 32:12, good for 56th place. Leading the women's team was Meredith Fontaine (West Warwick, R.I./West Warwick), who came in 30th place with a time of 22:32.

The men's and women's cross country teams next take on the challenge of the Stonehill College Invitational on Sunday, Sept. 30 in Easton, Mass. The women's race begins at 12:15 p.m. and the men's race is to follow at 1:15 p.m.
