Volleyball Included In Record List of USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award Winners

LEXINGTON, Ky. (7/14/23) – The United States Marine Corps (USMC) and American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) officially announced on Thursday afternoon their 1,333 collegiate and high school volleyball team winners of the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award this season. From the list, the Franklin Pierce University volleyball squad made the cut, securing their 13th honor in program history in addition to Team Honor Roll accolades.

The 2023 list marks an all-time record number of programs honored for their academic achievements. Since the 1992–93 academic year, the award honors all volleyball programs that maintain a year-long grade-point average of minimum 3.3 on a 4.0 scale, or a 4.1 on a 5.0 scale.

Pierce volleyball continues their rich history of academic success on campus with not only their 13th honor all-time, but 13th through a 14 year span. The team, who finished the 2022-23 season with a 10-13 overall record, additionally had a trio of individual athletes named recipients of the Northeast-10 Conference's President's Award for Academic Excellence, being seniors Mariah Robles (West Covina, Calif.), Tessa Brandt (Foster, R.I.) and Britney Loyd (Coppell, Texas).

The Ravens are scheduled to open their 2023 campaign on Friday, September 1st at Molloy University, with a game time still to be determined.
