CoSIDA Academic All-District Teams

GREENWOOD, Ind. (August 4, 2021) -- The Franklin Pierce University cross country and track & field program has had four student-athletes earn Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), as announced earlier this summer. Sophomore Connor Everidge (Baldwinville, Mass.) and junior Riley Fenoff (Danville, Vt.) from the men’s team, as well as juniors Alena Masterson (Pelham, N.H.) and Stephanie Phoenix (Wallingford, Conn.) from the women’s team, were all named to the Academic All-District I First Team. As a result of their selection, all four advanced to the Academic All-America ballot.

To be eligible for selection, each student-athlete must own a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average or higher, be at least a sophomore in academic standing and be a starter or significant contributor athletically. The Academic All-District and All-America teams are voted on by sports information directors in the district and nation, respectively.

It was the second career Academic All-District accolade for Fenoff, while the other three Ravens all earned the honor for the first time. All four previously picked up Academic All-Conference plaudits from the Northeast-10 Conference in June.

Everidge holds a 3.97 GPA as a health science major. He earned All-East Region honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) by finishing fourth in the region in the shot put this spring, with a throw of 15.31 meters. The distance was good enough to rank third in the NE10.

Fenoff is a biology major with a perfect, 4.0 GPA. He finished the year ranked among the top 15 in the NE10 in four different events: the 800 meters (1:58.82), the 1500 meters (4:01.11), the 5000 meters (15:37) and the 10,000 meters (34:18). At the NE10 Championships, Fenoff was part of a 4x800-meter relay team which put itself on the podium with a third-place finish (8:02).

Masterson has chalked up a perfect, 4.0 GPA as well, as a communications major. She was a member of Franklin Pierce’s second-place finish in the 4x800-meter relay (9:46) at the NE10 Championships.

Phoenix is a health science major and owns a 3.92 GPA. Her best mark of the year in the pole vault saw her get up and over 3.10 meters to earn USTFCCCA All-East Region accolades after finishing fourth in the region. The mark was good for third in the NE10 as well. Phoenix cleared 3.05 meters at the NE10 Championship to post a third-place finish and later squeaked out a top-20 finish at New Englands, where she recorded the 3.10-meter mark.

Academic All-America teams for cross country/track & field are slated to be announced on Aug. 11.
