MANSFIELD, Mass. (February 4, 2020) – The Franklin Pierce University women’s track & field team picked up a pair of weekly awards from the Northeast-10 Conference, for the week ending on Feb. 2, as announced earlier this week by the Conference office. Sophomore Paola Brena (Queretaro, Mexico) was selected as Field Athlete of the Week, while freshman Julieth Nwosu (Brockton, Mass.) was named Field Rookie of the Week.

It is the third time each of them have claimed their respective honors in the first five weeks of the season.

Brena, who has already met the NCAA Championships automatic qualifying standard in the high jump multiple times this winter, met the provisional standard once again over the weekend. She cleared 1.74 meters to take second place at the NEICAAA Championships and earn All-New England honors.

Meanwhile, Nwosu picked up All-New England accolades of her own, as she finished fifth in the shot put, with a throw of 13.35 meters.

The Ravens return to the track on Saturday, Feb. 8, when they head to Plymouth, N.H., for the Panther Invitational, hosted by Plymouth State.
