Track & Field Hauls in Four NE10 Weekly Awards

RINDGE, N.H. (January 15, 2019) – A total of four members of the Franklin Pierce University track & field program have earned Northeast-10 Conference weekly awards, for the week ending on Jan. 13, as announced on Tuesday by the Conference office. Senior CeCe Telfer (Lebanon, N.H.) was selected as NE10 Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, senior Lilian Baah (Danielson, Conn.) was honored as NE10 Women’s Field Athlete of the Week, freshman Paola Brena (Queretaro, Mexico) was named NE10 Women’s Field Rookie of the Week, and freshman Ethan Pezzullo (Bristol, R.I.) earned NE10 Men’s Track Rookie of the Week accolades.

Telfer hit the NCAA Championships automatic qualifying mark in the 60-meter hurdles on Sunday, as she turned in a time of 8.35 seconds to win the event at the Dartmouth Relays. Also, on Saturday at the Middlebury Winter Classic, she ran the lead leg of the 4x400-meter relay, which finished second, with a run of 4:27.12. It is Telfer’s second straight selection as NE10 Women’s Track Athlete of the Week.

Baah met the NCAA Championships provisional qualifying standard in the triple jump on Sunday at Dartmouth, with a school-record mark of 11.65 meters, which was good enough to win the event. On Saturday, also won the triple jump at Middlebury, with a mark of 11.28 meters.

Brena won the high jump on Saturday at Middlebury, by clearing 1.64 meters. She also cleared 1.60 meters on Sunday, to finish seventh in the high jump at Dartmouth. Brena has earned all three NE10 Women’s Field Rookie of the Week honors so far this season.

Pezzullo won the 60-meter dash on Saturday at Middlebury, with a time of 7.28 seconds. He also added a sixth-place finish in the 200-meter dash, with a run of 23.86 seconds.

The Ravens are back in action on Saturday, Jan. 19, when they travel to Lewiston, Maine, for the Bates Invitational.
