Baah, Zylak Lead Women’s Track & Field at Spartan Invitational

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (January 13, 2017) – A third-place finish in the triple jump by sophomore Lilian Baah (Danielson, Conn.) led the way for the Franklin Pierce University women's track & field team on Friday at the St. Thomas Aquinas College Spartan Invitational. It was part of an 18-point day for the Ravens, who took 13th out of 17 teams to score at the meet.

Baah put together a hop, skip and jump of 11.31 meters on Friday, which was good enough to finish third and earn six points for the Ravens. The mark would have been good for fourth in the Northeast-10 Conference, except for the fact Baah already ranked third in the league in the event.

Baah was one of four student-athletes to record points on the day for Franklin Pierce. On the track, freshman Rebecca Zylak (Goffstown, N.H.) took fourth, running a time of 3:25.00. The finish earned five points and moved her into fourth in the NE10 in the event. Also on the track, the Ravens got a sixth-place finish from junior Alexa Cassara (Bay Shore, N.Y.) in the 800 meters. Her time of 2:26.26 notched three points and currently ranks sixth in the NE10.

Meanwhile, back in field events, senior Nicole Galewski (Weymouth, Mass.) collected four points with a fifth-place finish in the long jump, with a leap of 5.13 meters. The jump would have put Galewski seventh in the NE10, were she not already ranked sixth.

The Ravens return to action on Saturday, Jan. 14, when they travel to the Tigers All-Comers Meet, hosted by Roxbury CC in Boston.
