Lambert Highlights Weekend at Princeton, While Rest of Women’s Track & Field Competes at George Davis Invitational

LOWELL, Mass. (April 23, 2016) – Senior Alyssa Lambert (Manchester, N.H.) turned in an NCAA Championships provisional qualifying time in the 1500 meters on Friday at the Larry Ellis Invitational, hosted by Princeton. Meanwhile, on Saturday, the rest of the Franklin Pierce University women's track & field team was in action at the George Davis Invitational, hosted by the University of Massachusetts Lowell.

At Princeton on Friday, Lambert turned in a 1500-meter time of 4:30.36, which was good enough for 16th at the Larry Ellis Invitational. It is also the fastest time run thus far this spring by a Northeast-10 student-athlete and meets the NCAA Championships provisional qualifying standard in the event.

In Lowell on Saturday, the Ravens did most of their damage in field events. Sophomore Emily Quinn (West Bridgewater, Mass.) finished ninth in the hammer throw, but her mark of 44.44 meters is currently good for fourth in the Northeast-10. Senior Nadine Hyde (Maple Valley, Wash.) was sixth in the discus, with a throw of 36.86 meters, which currently ranks fifth in the league. Junior Samantha Toscano (Northwood, N.H.) took fifth place in the long jump, with a leap of 5.21 meters, which stands eighth in the NE-10. Junior Miranda Gagnon (Rollinsford, N.H.) tacked on another top-five finish by placing third in the javelin, with a heave of 38.12 meters.

Out on the track, senior Monique Loney (Stamford, Conn.) posted a top-five finish in the 400 meters. She finished fifth, with a time of 1:00.78.

Next week, the Ravens will send select athletes to the prestigious Penn Relays April 28-30, before returning the full squad to action on May 1 at the Capital District Classic, hosted by RPI.
