Two Individuals, Two Relays in Action for Women’s Track & Field on Second Day of NEICAAA Championships

4x100 notches season-best time

Zeigler Zeigler ran the third leg on Saturday for the 4x100-meter relay team, which put together its fastest time of the season.

WESTFIELD, Mass. (May 10, 2014) – The 4x100-meter relay team ran its fastest time of the season on Saturday afternoon to lead the way for the Franklin Pierce University women's track and field team on the second and final day of the NEICAAA (New England) Championships, hosted by Westfield State.

Sophomore Monique Loney (Stamford, Conn.), sophomore Jackie Price (Brick, N.J.), sophomore Nicki Zeigler (Circleville, N.Y.) and freshman Brooke Simmons (Dunbarton, N.H.) combined to get the baton around the track in 48.96 seconds, the team's fastest run of the season. The time was good for 18th place at the NEICAAAs.

The Ravens also fielded a team in the 4x800-meter relay, where they finished 14th. Sophomore Danielle Koch (Coventry, Conn.), freshman Holly Lindoe (Holbrook, N.Y.), sophomore Kayla DiGiantommaso (Manchester, N.H.) and sophomore Alyssa Lambert (Manchester, N.H.) stopped the clock at 10:11.47.

Franklin Pierce also had a pair of individuals in action on Saturday. Sophomore Nadine Hyde (Maple Valley, Wash.) finished 15th in the javelin with a throw of 36.86 meters. Meanwhile, freshman Melanie Hill (Danbury, Conn.) competed in the final three events of the heptathlon, where she finished 10th with 3213 points. Along the way, she placed 10th in the long jump (4.28m) for 374 points and ninth in both the javelin (20.71m) and 800 meters (2:45.65), for 302 and 510 points, respectively.
