Lambert Third in 400m, 800m to Lead 11 Top-Five Finishes for Women’s Track & Field at BSU Bears Invitational

Gagnon second in javelin, Souliere second in long jump

Lambert Lambert had two of the Ravens' 10 individual top-five finishes on Saturday at Bridgewater State.

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. (March 22, 2014) – Sophomore Alyssa Lambert (Manchester, N.H.) finished third in both the 400 meters and the 800 meters on Saturday to lead the Franklin Pierce University women's track and field team in its first outdoor meet of the season, the BSU Bears Invitational, hosted by Bridgewater State University. Lambert was one of nine different Ravens to post an individual top-five on Saturday.

Lambert notched her pair of third-place finishes with a time of 1:02.99 in the 400, as well as a mark of 2:29.25 in the 800. All four of Franklin Pierce's individual top-five finishes on the track came in events 800 meters or shorter, as sophomore Nicki Zeigler (Circleville, N.Y.) placed third in the 200 meters (27.96) and sophomore Monique Loney (Stamford, Conn.) was fourth in the 100 meters (13.73). The Ravens' 4x400-meter relay team added a second-place finish in its event (4:24.54).

In field events, the Ravens tacked on six more top-fives, led by second-place finishes from freshman Miranda Gagnon (Rollinsford, N.H.) in the javelin (39.09m) and freshman Breigh Souliere (Cumberland, R.I.) in the long jump (4.69m). Souliere was joined in the long jump by freshman Melanie Hill (Danbury, Conn.), who placed fifth (4.57m). Elsewhere, sophomore Nadine Hyde (Maple Valley, Wash.) was third in the discus (36.43m), while freshmen Samantha Toscano (Northwood, N.H.) and Brooke Simmons (Dunbarton, N.H.) were fourth and fifth, respectively, in the high jump, as each cleared 1.45 meters.

The Ravens return to the track on Saturday, April 5, at the Yellow Jacket Invitational, hosted by American International College in Springfield, Mass.
