Zeigler notches season bests in 100m and 200m

Hyde In the discus on Saturday, Hyde came up just six centimeters shy of her season best throw, which still ranks third in the Northeast-10.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (April 13, 2013) – Freshman Nadine Hyde (Maple Valley, Wash.) fired the discus 38.52 meters, just six centimeters off her season best, on Saturday to finish eighth at the Springtime Invitational, hosted by Brown University at Brown Stadium.

Hyde's discus throw was the second longest among non-Division I competitors at Brown on Saturday. She was bettered only by six Division I throwers, a Division III student-athlete and an independent thrower. The distance effectively matched Hyde's throw at Bridgewater State on March 23, a mark which still stands third in the Northeast-10 Conference.

Hyde had company in the throwing events from freshman Micaila Olson (Upton, Mass.), who participated in the javelin. Though her mark of 34.84 meters was more than three meters shy of her throw last week at the George Davis Invitational, Olson still finished eighth in the event. She remains ranked fourth in the javelin in the Northeast-10.

On the track, freshman Nicki Zeigler (Circleville, N.Y.) posted her fastest times of the outdoor season in both the 100-meter (13.47) and 200-meter (27.54) dashes, as she finished 24th and 29th in the events, respectively. Her time in the 100-meter dash was the fourth-fastest outdoor time among Northeast-10 freshmen this season.

The Ravens are back on the track on Saturday, April 20, at the MIT Spring Invitational in Cambridge, Mass.
