Women's Tennis Handed First Loss Against Southern New Hampshire, 6-1

RINDGE, N.H. (10/4/22) – The Franklin Pierce University women's tennis team faced off against the Southern New Hampshire University Penman for the first time since least season's semifinal round of the Northeast-10 Women's Tennis playoffs, a match that was won by the Ravens. However, in their return, the Penman handed the Ravens their first setback of the fall season, claiming a 6-1 victory.

The unbeaten streak comes to a close for the Ravens, who move to 5-1 (4-1 NE10) overall following the loss. Southern New Hampshire remains undefeated with the victory, and move to 7-0 (6-0 NE10) on the season.

The Penman worked off of a full sweep through the doubles action, and nearly found the same success in singles if not for Raven junior Maria Penalver (Las Palmas, Spain), who secured the lone Raven victory on the afternoon from No. 1 singles. After falling to SNHU opponent Magdalena Hubickova in the opening set 7-6, Penalver stormed back with two straight set wins, defeating her opponent by scores of 6-1 and 6-3.

Women's tennis will look to bounce back on Friday, October 7th as they will travel to Assumption University for another Northeast-10 bout, with the match starting at 3:30 p.m.
