Women's Tennis Falls Short In Narrow Decision to Brandeis University, 5-4

Waltham, MA (4/10/22) - Franklin Pierce women's tennis fell just short in a closely contested loss at Brandeis University Sunday afternoon, battling the Judges to a final verdict of 5-4 in non-conference competition.

With the loss, women's tennis slides to 12-5 on the year, whereas Brandeis snaps a six-game skid and improves to 4-10.

The Ravens found success on both ends of the court, securing three out of their four points with victories at second, fourth and sixth singles as well as claiming a single point with a victory at second doubles. All singles matchups were decided in just two sets, with graduates Anais Geslin (Livry-Gargin, France) defeating Brandeis' Ana Hatfield in both sets 6-2, and Himani Mor (Sonipat, India) besting Nikita Salkar by scores of 6-2 and 6-3. Sophomore Zoe Asterio Correa (Toronto, Ontario) also won her two sets decisively, beating out Brandeis' Jiayi Zhang 6-3 and 6-2.

Geslin joined forces with third graduate member Estela Carra (Logrono, Spain) to claim the lone doubles victory over the Brandeis duo of Ana Hatfield and Jiayi Zhang, winning by a single set final of 8-4.

Women's Tennis travels to Babson College this coming Friday, April 15th for a morning matchup against the Beavers starting at 10:30 AM.
