Women's Tennis Downs Stonehill, 7-0

RINDGE, N.H. (October 9, 2021) – The Franklin Pierce University women's tennis team defeated Stonehill College, 7-0, at the Tennis Courts on Saturday afternoon. The Ravens improve to 7-1 on the season, while the Skyhawks fall to 5-3.

The Ravens lead early after collecting the doubles point. Junior Liria Loria (La Paz, Bolivia) and graduate student Estela Carra (Logrono, Spain) completed their doubles match first at No. 2, winning 6-0 over Emma Markaryan and Samantha Ormesher of Stonehill. Sophomore duo Maria Penalver Aguilo (Las Palmas, Spain) and Zoe Asterio Correa (Toronto, Ontario) defeated Stonehill's Lily Peter and Marissa Such, 6-1, on No. 3, before graduate students Himani Mor (Sonipat, India) and Anais Geslin (Livry-Gargin, France) downed Cristina Solorzano Valencia and Steffi Antao of Stonehill, 6-2 on court No. 1.

Franklin Pierce kept the momentum going, picking up all six singles points. Geslin defeated Stonehill's Ormesher 6-0, 6-0 on No. 4 to earn the first point in singles competition. Penalver Aguilo followed at No. 1, defeating Solorzano Valencia of Stonehill 6-3, 6-3. Mor won 6-7(5-7), 6-0, 6-0 over Markaryan of Stonehill on court No. 2, while Carra defeted Peter of Stonehill 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5 singles. Loria grabbed her point after a 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 win over Stonehill's Antao on No. 3, and Asterio Correa notched the final point of the match after defeating Such of Stonehill 6-3, 6-2 at No. 6.

The Crimson and Grey travel to Le Moyne on Sunday, October 10, to replay a match from earlier this season that was ruled a no contest. The match is set for 4 p.m.
