Women’s Tennis Shutout at Eckerd, 9-0

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (March 19, 2018) – The Franklin Pierce University women's tennis team opened a three-match spring break trip to Florida on Monday. The Ravens were defeated, 9-0, on the road at Eckerd in non-conference play.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 2-16, while Eckerd improves to 3-8.

Eckerd dropped just five total games on the day while winning all nine matches on the way to the shutout. Sophomore Sarah Rich (Windham, Maine) saw the most success for Franklin Pierce, as she took three games in the first set, but ultimately dropped a 6-3, 6-0 decision to Eckerd junior Maryann Aaron.

In all, five different Eckerd players won in both singles and doubles play on Monday. Freshman Taylor Selby led the way by sweeping to an 8-0 win at first doubles and a 6-0, 6-0 win at first singles.

The Ravens return to the court on Tuesday, March 20, when they visit Webber International for a 2 p.m. match in Babson Park, Fla.
