Ravens host Saint Michael's on Saturday

Quagliano RINDGE, N.H. (October 8, 2014) – The Franklin Pierce University women's tennis team was defeated on Wednesday afternoon, 8-1, by Southern New Hampshire in Northeast-10 Conference play at Franklin Pierce.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 1-10 (1-10 Northeast-10), while SNHU improves to 7-1 (7-1 Northeast-10).

Freshman Maria Quagliano (Branford, Conn.) picked up the only point of the afternoon for the Ravens. With the team match already decided, she squared off with SNHU junior Allison Valentine in the pro-set format at sixth singles, where Quagliano pulled out an 8-5 win.

Elsewhere, SNHU only surrendered six games across five more singles matches and three doubles matches, three of which went to senior Leslie Rodgers (Westminster, Md.), who put together a fight, but dropped a 6-2, 6-1 decision at fourth singles to junior Yolanda Green. Green was among five players who played in both singles and doubles for SNHU on Wednesday, with each of the five winning both of their matches. Senior Diana Vamvakitis had the most impressive day for the Penmen, as she teamed with junior Ashley Loft for an 8-0 win at first doubles and then swept to a 6-0, 6-0 win at first singles.

The Ravens return to the court on Saturday, Oct. 11, when they remain home to host Saint Michael's in a Northeast-10 Conference match at noon in Rindge.
