Ravens back in action Thursday at Plymouth State

McCarthy McCarthy and the Ravens travel to Plymouth State on Thursday afternoon.

RINDGE, N.H. (October 10, 2011) – The Franklin Pierce University women's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision to Southern New Hampshire in Northeast-10 Conference play on Monday afternoon at Franklin Pierce.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 1-3 (1-3 Northeast-10), while Southern New Hampshire improves to 5-0 (4-0 Northeast-10).

The Penmen proved dominant throughout the match, dropping just nine games along the way, while sophomore Natasha McCarthy (Rindge, N.H.) put together one of the strongest showings for Franklin Pierce. McCarthy hung tight against SNHU junior Alena Mukdaprakorn in the first set, before ultimately falling at first singles, 6-3, 6-0.

All six SNHU players would post wins in both doubles and singles play on the afternoon. Each of the Penmen's three doubles teams posted 8-0 victories, while sophomore Kirsten Jean finished an unblemished afternoon with a 6-0, 6-0 win at fourth singles.

The Ravens return to the court on Thursday, Oct. 13, when travel to Plymouth State for a non-conference match set to begin at 3:30 p.m. in Plymouth, N.H. Franklin Pierce next plays at home on Friday, Oct. 14 against Merrimack at 3:30 p.m.
