Krolikowski, Rodgers pick up two points each

MANCHESTER, N.H. (April 3, 2012) – Senior Kaitlin Krolikowski (Massapequa, N.Y.) posted victories at both first doubles and second singles on Tuesday afternoon, but the Franklin Pierce University tennis team was defeated, 5-4, at Saint Anselm in Northeast-10 Conference play.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 1-8 (1-7 Northeast-10), while Saint Anselm improves to 6-3 (6-3 Northeast-10).

The Ravens jumped out of the gates with a pair of doubles wins to hold a 2-1 edge after doubles play. At first doubles, Krolikowski teamed with sophomore Natasha McCarthy (Rindge, N.H.) to pick up an 8-4 win over Saint Anselm junior Alexandra Lawrence and sophomore Katherine Morrissey. Meanwhile, at third doubles, freshman Leslie Rodgers (Westminster, Md.) and senior Mariama Bonetti (New York, N.Y.) breezed to an 8-2 win over sophomore Christine Woods and freshman Kate Martin.

The Ravens picked up two more points in singles play, but could not capture a third singles match to pick up the team victory. Krolikowski made it two wins for her on the day, as she blitzed Saint Anselm senior Amanda Brahm, 6-0, 6-2. Rodgers earned her second point of the day as well, rallying after dropping the first set at sixth singles to pick up a 1-6, 6-1, 6-0 win over Woods.

Freshman April Regan was the only Saint Anselm player to win in both singles and doubles play. She teamed with Brahm for an 8-1 win at second doubles before bettering Bonetti at fifth singles, 6-3, 6-3.

The Ravens return to the court on Friday, April 6, when they return home to host Pace in a Northeast-10 Conference match at 2 p.m.
