Ravens conclude fall season

RINDGE, N.H. (October 12, 2010) – The Franklin Pierce University women's tennis team was defeated on Tuesday afternoon, 9-0, by Bentley in Northeast-10 Conference play at Franklin Pierce.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce concludes the fall portion of it schedule at 0-6 (0-6 Northeast-10), while Bentley improves to 4-0 (4-0 Northeast-10) with the victory.

Junior Kaitlin Krolikowski (Massapequa, N.Y.) put forward one of the strongest efforts for the Ravens on the afternoon. In doubles play, she teamed with freshman Natasha McCarthy (Rindge, N.H.), though the duo fell at first doubles, 8-4, to junior Kara Murphy and senior Aimee Tetu of Bentley. Later, Krolikowski hung right with sophomore Paulina Sotomayor at first singles before ultimately losing, 6-3, 6-4.

All six Bentley players won in both singles and doubles play on Tuesday. The team of Sotomayor and sophomore Katie Van Gilst was dominant, as they posted an 8-1 win at second doubles. Senior Cheryl Martin had one of the best singles showings for the Falcons, as she powered to a 6-1, 6-1 win at third singles.

The Ravens wrapped up the fall portion of their schedule on Tuesday and will return to the court in the spring. Their next match is currently scheduled for March 19 at Pace.
