Women’s Tennis Falls At Bentley, 9-0

Ravens visit Saint Rose on Oct. 10

WALTHAM, Mass. (October 4, 2009) – The Franklin Pierce University women’s tennis team was defeated, 9-0, by Bentley in Northeast-10 Conference play at Bentley on Sunday afternoon. With the win, Bentley improves to 3-1 (2-1 Northeast-10), while Franklin Pierce falls to 0-3 (0-3 Northeast-10) with the loss.

Seniors Bianca LaPointe (Plainfield, Conn.) and Monica Lavertu (Berlin, N.H.) came the closest to earning a point for Franklin Pierce on the afternoon. In third doubles, they put up a fight before falling to Bentley freshman Rachael Litton and senior Rachel Harbert, 8-5. In singles, it was sophomore Kaitlin Krolikowski (Massapequa, N.Y.) and junior Lauren Smilovich (Meriden, Conn.) who put forth the best effort for the Ravens. Each lost a 6-2, 6-1 decision at first and second singles, respectively.

In all, five Falcons were victorious in both singles and doubles on the afternoon and three Bentley players tallied 6-0, 6-0 singles victories. Bentley sophomore Ellen Mader lost just one game in an 8-1 victory at second doubles and then turned around and posted a 6-0, 6-0 win at fifth singles.

The Ravens return to action on Saturday, Oct. 10, when they visit Saint Rose in a Northeast-10 Conference match at 1 p.m. in Albany, N.Y.
