Women's Tennis Falls to Saint Michael's on Saturday
Team gets seven wins in doubles portion
RINDGE, N.H. (October 3, 2009) – The
Franklin Pierce University women’s tennis team fell to Saint
Michael’s on Saturday afternoon by a score of 9-0 at the
Northfield Activity Center in Rindge, N.H. Franklin Pierce fell to
0-2 on the season and 0-2 in Northeast-10 action.
Saint Michael’s was strong during the entire match and opened
with a sweep of the three doubles matches against the Ravens.
Franklin Pierce was able to collect seven wins in the doubles
portion of the event, including three wins apiece from the team of
Kaitlin Krolikowski (Massapequa, N.Y.) and
Suzana Deronjic (Melrose, Mass), and the group of
Bianca LaPointe (Plainfield, Conn.) and
Monica Lavertu (Berlin, N.H.). In the singles
portion, Krolikowski, Lauren Smilovich (Meriden,
Conn.), Drew Alexander (Long Beach, N.Y.)
and Lavertu each recorded four wins in their respective
matches.
In all, five Saint Michael’s players recorded wins in both
the singles and doubles portions of the event.
Franklin Pierce returns to action Sunday when both the men’s
and women’s teams travel to face Bentley. The women’s
event will begin at 11 a.m., with the men’s to follow at 2
p.m.
