Womens Tennis Falls At Saint Michaels, 7-2
Smilovich wins in both singles and doubles

COLCHESTER, Vt. (October 5, 2008)
– Sophomore Lauren Smilovich
(Meriden, Conn./Sacred Heart Academy) was victorious in both
her singles and doubles match on Sunday afternoon, but the Franklin
Pierce University women’s tennis team was defeated on the
road, 7-2, by Saint Michael’s in Northeast-10 Conference
play.
Smilovich was a part of both points on the afternoon for the
Ravens. First, she teamed with junior Bianca LaPointe (Plainfield, Conn./Saint
Bernard) to score an 8-3 victory in third doubles over
freshman Megan Bagg (Lake Placid, N.Y./Northwood) and sophomore
Katarina Lisaius (Warren, Vt./Harwood Union) of Saint
Michael’s. Later, Smilovich earned a 6-1, 5-7, 6-3 win over
senior Jessica Maurice (Portland, Maine/Deering) in fourth
singles.
Freshman Kaitlin Krolikowski
(Massapequa, N.Y./St. Anthony’s) nearly pulled out
another point for Franklin Pierce, as she took the first set from
Saint Michael’s sophomore Marran Ranks (Stratham,
N.H./Exeter), but ultimately was defeated, 1-6, 6-3, 6-4.
The Ravens (1-2, 1-2 NE-10) return to the court on Tuesday, Oct. 7
when they return home to host Stonehill in a Northeast-10
Conference contest at 3 p.m. in Rindge, N.H. Saint Michael’s
(4-1, 3-1 NE-10) has concluded its fall schedule.
